Nico Tortorella Discusses Details of Their Polyamorous Marriage

Nico Tortorella just gave fans a glimpse into their queer polyamorous marriage as well as their relationships with others. In a revealing interview with Attitude, they explained how their life is not defined by gender normative concepts but by love, loyalty, and exploration.

„I think that my own understanding of the binary of sexuality and the binary of gender has transitioned over the years,” Tortorella said, explaining they now try to educate others on the nature of their queerness rather than talk about “who I am with my family.”

Tortorella is married to non-binary and gender fluid activist and entrepreneur Bethany C. Meyers. Although they tied the knot officially in 2018, the pair have been friends and more for almost 15 years after having met during college. Their relationship is at its core one of affirmation and loyalty.

“I mean, Bethany’s my best friend and we have been through a ton of shit together,” Tortorella said.

According to Tortorella, their relationship with Meyers has been the anchor in both their lives.

“We were the first people to really see each other in our entirety, and it definitely made me question a lot of things,” they explained. Throughout the years, Meyers “was just always there. There was this loyalty that never went away, no matter how far apart we were. No matter how long we had been dating someone else or how long we were living in a different state or country, for that matter, the other person [Meyers] was always there and it was fucking beautiful then, and it’s fucking beautiful now.”

While the pair are openly exploring their sexuality with others separate from the marriage, Tortorella was adamant that “it’s not the case” that they have a swinging lifestyle with plenty of indiscriminate partners.

“I am kind of a serial monogamist in my polyamory,” Tortorella went on. “I’ve explained this term before, but it’s a lot of fancy words jumbled together for, I love dating one person at a time. I’m married, yes, but I love dating one person at a time. I have a partner in LA that I’ve had for a long time, but I’m not his only partner; he’s not my only partner.“

Tortorella noted they don’t necessarily understand the complete nature of their sexuality and gender, but that they are learning as they go along.

„We don’t have all the answers, but we’re going to figure it out,” they said.

‚The Walking Dead‘ responds to homophobic backlash against an LBGTQ storyline

The Walking Dead is taking aim at homophobia, as well as zombies.

After a small, but vocal segment of viewers responded negatively to the inclusion of a gay couple in the spin-off series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the franchise responded from its official Twitter account.

“If LBGTQ+ characters on television (or anywhere) make you uncomfortable or angry, please unfollow us,” the statement reads. “While we also encourage you to look within and be more accepting, know that there is no place in our fandom for hateful discrimination or willful ignorance.”

Premiering last October, World Beyond was a teen-centric variation on The Walking Dead, following four adolescents who are among the first generation to grow up in a world populated by brain-eating monsters. Several adults join them in the course of their journey, including former security officer Felix Carlucci (Nico Tortorella) and boyfriend, Will Campbell, played by Broadway star Jelani Alladin.

Hi, hello. If LGBTQ+ characters on television (or anywhere) make you uncomfortable or angry, please unfollow us. While we also encourage you to look within and be more accepting, know that there is no place in our fandom for hateful discrimination or willful ignorance. Thank you.

— The Walking Dead (@TheWalkingDead) January 26, 2021

On Jan. 25, Alladin discussed the couple’s relationship on the podcast, noting how much he appreciated that the show’s writers approached the romance in a completely ordinary manner. “It was just two men who happened to be in love. There was no need to explain anything further. I love that The Walking Dead is putting that forward: that LGBTQ relationships are nothing different than any other kind of relationship.”

That interview awakened online trolls who criticized the show’s attempts at LGBTQ+ inclusion. “I don’t like how every character simply HAS TO HAVE A LOVE INTEREST. Oh we can’t find a character for you, screw it you’re gay with this guy. It’s so fake just for added emotional drama,” wrote one YouTube commenter.

The Walking Dead franchise — which has a strong track record of featuring LGBTQ+ characters across its shows — wasted little time stepping in and shutting those trolls down, posting its statement on Twitter the day after Alladin’s interview. And fans are thrilled that they spoke up.

The LGBTQ+ characters are a wonderful and important part of not only the graphic novels but the show and we fully support them!

some people make me sick. how could you NOT be in love with this????

Your best tweet, fam! ????❤️?(And you’ve had a lot of good tweets!)

wow, as a trans person, you really don’t see a lot of shows or just companies just outright say something like this, it’s very much appreciated, thank you ?

Nico Tortorella Slept With A Gay Friend To Help Him Come Out: “There Was No Ass Play”

Younger star and RuPaul’s Drag Race superfan, Nico Tortorella has never been shy about discussing sexuality—whether it’s on his podcast The Love Bomb or in a new interview with New York magazine where he divulged that he had hooked up with a male friend in high school.

“This is going to sound fucked, but I knew that he was really struggling. And I was like, Look, if I hook up with him, maybe it will make things easier for him,” Tortorella remembers. “We hooked up.”

“There was no ass play at all. It was just dick-to-mouth here,” revealed Tortorella. “He was shaken up about it and I was like, ‘It’s fine. What happened last night doesn’t make you the person that you are. Why are you putting so much weight on it?’ And when that happened, I was like, ’Oh, I’m thinking about this differently than everyone else is thinking about it.’”

Earlier this year Tortorella came out as “sexually fluid” but he might be adopting a new label for himself.

“The more I’m having these conversations, the more comfortable I am identifying as bisexual,” he told New York.

“I’ve been so hesitant about using the word for so long, because it does have a negative connotation in our generation. People fought for so long for that ‘B’ in LGBT, and I refuse to be the person that’s going to throw that away because I think I have a more colorful word.”

Tortorella doesn’t want the sexuality conversation to stop with his podcast—he also talked about his idea for a sketch comedy show called Nico Nico Nico that would “explore various gender and sexual identities.”

“Each episode was a different label,” Tortorella said. “So there was the gay episode, the straight episode, the bisexual episode, the cisgender episode, the asexual episode. I was playing all these different characters, so you could see how one person could be all of these different things in all of these different relationships.”

‚Younger‘ star Nico Tortorella discusses nontraditional marriage, sobriety and advocacy for LGBTQ+ community

Nico Tortorella and their partner discuss their unconventional marriage.

‘Younger’ star Nico Tortorella on their untraditional marriage, LGBTQ+ advocacy

Actor Nico Tortorella’s marriage to fitness guru Bethany C. Meyers is far from your typical boy-meets-girl love story.

Tortorella and Meyers are a uniquely modern couple. Both are gender fluid, using “they/them” pronouns and their marriage is polyamorous — redefining what it means to be “husband and wife.”

Their story is laid out in Tortorella’s new book “Space Between.” It’s a place, Tortorella suggests, where people who don’t consider themselves “he” or “she” can call their own.

“When Bethany and I met in 2006, I was a boy and she was a girl, whatever that means,” Tortorella said, reading from “Space Between.” “Today Bethany and I both identify as non-binary and prefer ‘they/them’ pronouns.”

“It’s still a work in progress for everyone. I still mess up sometimes, too,” Tortorella said of using “they/them” pronouns. “For me, ‘they/them’ fully encompasses all of it that exists in my own multi-dimensional dynamic being. Right? It just feels more inclusive. It feels wider.”

Tortorella also spoke openly about their struggle with fame, the painful process of coming out and facing a dark battle with alcohol.

“When I started having access to the party, to the celebrity, to the free everything, it got out of control, like it does for so many people in this industry,” they said.

The 31-year-old has found fame portraying the hyper-masculine tattoo artist Josh on TV Land’s hit show “Younger,” Lyle Menendez in Lifetime’s “Blood Brothers” and will portray a queer character battling the zombie apocalypse in the upcoming spinoff of AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”

“Nightline” joined Tortorella and Meyers at their upstate New York home, where Meyers discussed why they made the traditional and somewhat unexpected choice to get married.

“I knew that when it came to having a foundation and a family foundation, that this was the person for me to do it with,” Meyers said.

“When it comes to visiting each other in a hospital, god forbid that ever happens, when it comes to bringing children into the world, when it comes to health insurance, the system was built for a reason,” Tortorella added.

It’s what works for them. While Meyers and Tortorella are deeply committed to each other, they also each have multiple sexual partners.

Tortorella explained that being polyamorous didn’t mean having group sex. “It’s the ability to create space for more than one person at any given point,” they said.

“It’s love,” Meyers added. “Sometimes I get a little bit jealous but jealousy is something that I often have to practice, it’s a very normal human emotion.”

Their untraditional love story began as teenagers in a Chicago art school when Tortorella developed a crush.

“Nico very much liked me and I did not like Nico at first,” Meyers said. “But I remember talking to one of my friends and being like, ‘I don’t know who this person is, and they kind of annoyed me, but they’re going to be in my life forever.’”

Meyers also spoke about dealing with backlash from the Baptist community they were raised in.

“I’m from Missouri, [a] small town, pretty conservative, raised very traditional,” Meyers said. “I was raised knowing that if you’re gay, you go to hell. I mean that was kind of the only thing that I knew.”

Being bisexual, Meyers was met with hostility from their own family. They finally found peace with Tortorella.

“I fell in love with Nico. I mean, I love you so much,” Meyers said speaking to Tortorella. “Nico was so respectful of everything that I wanted to do and I just feel like they saw me as an individual.”

Growing up in the Midwest, Tortorella also faced resistance from their working-class Italian family.

“I always knew that I was different,” Tortorella said. “When I first realized that even homosexuality was an option, I saw it on TV, I would go down in the basement and watch ‘Queer as Folk,’ and delete it from the queue because I didn’t want my parents knowing that I was watching it.”

With Tortorella’s newfound fame came a bigger stage, and a greater sense of purpose.

In 2018, they walked the runway at New York Fashion Week in a sheer black gown accompanied by a full beard and chest hair.

“It’s political… It’s not just throwing on a dress because I’m having fun. It’s to prove a point,” Tortorella said. “And I look good in a dress, so what’s the problem?”

They explained the act was “both” about being provocative and making a political statement.

“I have a certain privilege that other people do not have and a responsibility [and a] right to raise awareness,” they said. “That’s part of my activism. Wearing a dress is activism for me.”

While Tortorella’s fame has given them a platform for their activism, it’s also been a double-edged sword, opening the door to addiction and substance abuse.

“Once you’re just like alone drinking alone, doing drugs alone and you’re completely numb to it all, it gets really scary. You know, it gets really lonely,” they added.

Tortorella said fellow actor Ashton Kutcher stepped in.

“I was working on the show that was based off his life. He was my boss at that time. I was 21 years old living in New York City. Everyone was partying,” Tortorella said.

“I had gone to ask him for some advice and he was just like, ‘Don’t put anything up your nose.’ We were all drinking,” they said. “I got into his face. He was like, ‘You’re high right now.’ I was high. So you feel like you’re invincible right? And we just started going at it. It didn’t get physical. It could have.”

Before quitting alcohol, alarm bells were also going off at home with Meyers.

“There was a day when I was like, ‘Hey let’s just have a day together. Let’s just be sober today, let’s go out, let’s not party, let’s like, be in the sunshine,’” Meyers said. “Then Nico turned around and grabbed a bottle of vodka out of the freezer and started drinking it, and I was like, ‘Oh, you can’t.’ And that was a really scary moment for me.”

Today, Tortorella says their sobriety is going “great.”

“Still, I speak of my sobriety as fluid like the rest of who I am. I’m sober from alcohol. That was the one thing that really was the devil for me,” they said. “So I gave up alcohol. I still smoke weed.”

It’s those hard times that have made them resilient.

For their traditional mom, Annie Walsh, being so different was unacceptable at first.

For Walsh, 60, seeing the child she had raised as her son in a tight black dress during Fashion Week triggered an explosive fight.

“I was OK with everything to the best of my ability, and then I saw the dress,” she said. “And I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I mean like, at one point does it stop? Where’s the line? And I realize there is no line. If you start drawing lines then you’re put in a box.”

“But it was more important for me to have the love of my son,” Walsh continued. “Who am I to judge who [they love], who [they don’t] love. [They love] everybody.”

Over the years, the lessons learned from Tortorella became part of their mother’s everyday life. She now lives in Florida and developed a group of friends that includes a trans masseuse, gay hair stylist and a lesbian doctor — an evolution for her that happened alongside Tortorella’s journey.

Tortorella, their mother and their partner are each on their separate journeys, but they are bound by respect and an abiding love.

“I want to say, I wish I could do it all over again,” Walsh said. “I can’t change the past, [but] I can change today. Just as [they are] changing today for so many people. [They] have done that for me.”

Today, Tortorella is using their voice to advocate for young people who identify as gender-queer, creating a sense of belonging for others in the LGBTQ+ community, many of whom need a sanctuary to call their own.

“Share more. Share more than you thought was okay,” Tortorella said of advice they’d give their younger self. “Just talk about how you are feeling more than you are, because then you can begin to feel differently.”

Nico Tortorella Wants You to Know Their Position In Bed

‚Walking Dead’s Daniel Newman is up for sharing too.

Well, it’s that time. After years of many celebrities playing coy or outright getting offended by questions of what bunk they occupy, a pair of actors have decided it’s time to stop being polite and start getting real! And though it’s not as full-throated as Haaz Sleiman’s coming out wherein he told the world that he was not only gay but also a total bottom, they were still as honest as they come.

First up was Walking Dead’s Daniel Newman. In a tweet earlier this month, Newman told the world that he’s „too lazy to bottom,“ which … fair!

„I’m a TOP,“ he tweeted to a fan who had made a joke calling him a bottom. „I’m too lazy to bottom! Lol. Maybe if I got married. But I’m also always super attracted to Tops so I guess whoever is strong enough and can pin down the other wins that night.“

So vers top? Ok, ok cool. That’s … ok, bet. Bisexual, vers top, got it.

Next up was Nico Tortorella, known in part for their role on Younger but who will also appear in a Walking Dead spin-off. On Sunday, the married actor posted a „gay sitting alignment chart“ to their Instagram Stories. You know, the kind: since no gays (or queers in general) can sit correctly in a chair as designed, these charts help everyone figure out their position by how they sit. According to this chart, tops sort of sprawl over the chair.

„This is how I was sitting when I read this meme,“ Tortorella wrote in a screenshot posted to PinkNews. „For the record. (but more here, depends on the day y’all.)“ For the latter part of the message, they had underlined a figure with one leg bent and the other extended to the floor. The chart categorized it as how vers guys sit.

Well … nice to know this of the polyamorous, nonbinary performer. In case, you know, we see them on the apps and need to make polite conversation.

Nico Tortorella Wants You to Know Their Position In Bed

Nico Tortorella comes out

Actor Nico Tortorella has come out or at least doesn’t identify as anything. He’s also probably dating model/hair dresser Kyle Krieger.

What is that . . . [italic]thing[/italic] . . . and why is it trying too hard?

Gurleen needs to take a lawnmower to that treasure trail.

If you’ve ever seen him „act“ on The Following or Younger, this cannot possibly come as a surprise.

Just by looking at his IG, how would this surprise anyone?

What R11, you think the Mars symbol tattooed on his shoulder is a giveaway?

I knew he was gay when I first saw him, which was just now.

K know him from Scream 4 and thought he was cute. Good for him.

I’m glad just because he’s on dudetube all the time and I’m not here for these Nick Jonas types.

„Younger“ just started its second season last week, so I’m sure that’s the explanation for his timing.

What’s with all these almost 30 year old’s who are still so unsure of who they are?! Truly I’ve never heard of her but he seems outrageously immature. Also that instagram post was in no way a coming out. Just full frontal vanity with a vague caption

Aww, he was actually really cute before he shape-shifted into another West Hollywood crossfit clone

OP is an idiot. This is FAKE just like Kyle’s relationship with Max Emerson was fake. They do it because they have projects to promote. Nico is straight but gay friendly.

R26 Have you ever heard him speak? Nico’s about as straight as a rainbow

He’s had multiple girlfriends. Call me crazy but I do not think those were beards. Maybe he’s bi tho.

Dude looks gay as fuck. If you’re a „Nico is straight!“ troll, look in the mirror and get a life.

R28 That was the point in OP’s post. He calls himself bi or no labels or whatever kids want to call it nowadays.

Straight or gay, I don’t know, but he must be deaf to stand Kyle Kreiger’s shrill voice! Oy, vey!

That Kyle guy is the epitome of only-in-LA, box of hair dumb pathological narcissist. He literally sits around taking half naked photos of himself all day. At one point do we acknowledge this as mental illness?

Nico’s super hot. Not sure if his post was a coming out but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was gay or bi. He was one of the few good things in The Following where he played a gay serial killer, or a sort of serial killer, few years ago.

Well Nico is all over Kyles instagram so i’d say they are dating. They made a video on Kyle’s youtube channel.

It means nothing, R34. It was like that with Max too when they were fake dating.

Wait.. They’re in Aspen? It’s gay week in Aspen now. So maybe he is gay, or maybe he was just there hosting or presenting something idk.

Ok, in R9 picture of who ever this guy is, is this a New York thing which guys who claim to be bi or gay wearing skinny type jeans, sharing apartments with roommates and living in brick walled rooms? Also, posting half necked on the internet and having blogs talking about themselves? I communicated with a guy on the net who said he uses no labels on his sexuality ,but he claimed he leaned bi. He posted many, many pictures of himself in his New York brick room dressed identically to this guy, and showing off his body. He talked himself. all of the time He moved to New York from Orange County, California to make it in show business In the 1980s and he is still struggling to make it big. He is around 48 years old and dresses like a young hipster.

r34 Max was a fellow instagram ho, they used each other to gain followers. Nico is an actor on a television show, he doesn’t need Kyle Kriegers instgram, so I think there’s‘ more to this relationship.
Seriously though. Where did he say he was gay?

It doesn’t. it’s a photo of a straight, LA artsy, yet HOT douchebag who wants gays to watch his shitty show and add to his already inflated ego.

Don’t give them this kind of power over you, people. Stop letting these straight men tease you for capitalistic gain.

R27, you are ignorant enough to think voices determine sexuality

He’s really hot on Younger and they are trying to market that show to gay guys. Our local gay bar just received a shipment of calendars featuring him in various states of undress. Very sexy.

Younger tries a bit too hard though being hip and edgy while making fun of the millenial hipster edgy stuff. But I love the show (Debi Mazar rules, also Miriam Shor, and I like Hilary Duff, but yeah, Nico Tortella is the main attraction for me).

Further proof Nico is just pandering to gays, R48. I highly doubt he is gay.
What’s with all these almost 30 year old’s who are still so unsure of who they are?!

Yeah, he seems straight me, R56. That’s how young men act nowadays. „Pinging“ and „Gay face“ are so antiquated.

I know plenty of young straight men, R58. They don’t act like that.

I recognize the name from that show with Kevin Bacon on Fox, but he was never this hot on that show.

Quite frankly I don’t understand why so many people in this thread are claiming he’s straight. We don’t really know for certain and he could very well be straight, gay or bi.

R60, he was hot as hell in The Following, especially when with Adan Canto.

I know similar hipster straight dudes who act similarly. It’s not 1971, ya know. Dude.

R62, I know similar hipster straight dudes who have bromances with benefits, too.

He was doughy in the following and his face is kinda weird at times. Awful pointy nose…

I know hipster straight dudes but none that know scenes from Love Actually

R67, he’s just saying Lana looks like him. Let’s wait for the real coming out before trying to give alternate meanings to Nico’s posts.

Yes, because straight boys would post pictures of Lana fucking Del Rey and caption it ‚Literally me‘.

R69, well it’s still not a coming out. The idea of the post is that their faces look the same, I’m not quite seeing that as a confirmation about anything. And no, I’m not trying to say he’s straight.

R56 Seems pretty gay to me. Pretty sure they fucked afterwards.

What is it with Lana Del Rey and gays like James Franco and Nico Tortorella who have a fascination with her?

He could be bi. I don’t think this is gay pandering. Gay pandering is doing appearances at gay bars and talking about how he loves his gay male fans. Nick Jonas is notorious for this. This seems like someone living in a glass closet.
I know plenty of young straight men, [R58]. They don’t act like that.

Yeah, we all do. But we’re not talking about the young straight men that work in your office, R59 or sack your groceries. See the „Getting out more statement.“
What is it with Lana Del Rey and gays like James Franco and Nico Tortorella who have a fascination with her?

LOL. James Franco is the king of gay baiting. Why do y’all keep falling for it? We should be offended and gathering a lynch mob for that guy.

Lana Del Ray, that fake who needs her daddy to finance her career? I am losing a great deal of respect for Nico because of him worshipping that talentless void.

Don’t know who that is but when a man says that, it means he’s fuh-laming for dick.

OMG, that Kyle Kruger monster looks horrible at R56. You really have to see that Botoxed face in action. I never knew what gayface was until I saw that.

What is the better name? Nico Tortorella or Milo Ventimiglia?

No fucking way he isn’t 100% gay. The face, the voice, the pinging, the tattoos, modeling, acting, a role on a Daren Star show, alcoholic and his Instagram? Maybe he just needs to add a tattoo that says 100% gay because it may not be obvious enough.

Here is what he posted. He is not gay. It’s crossed out.

Do you think these queens will take that into consideration as they’re setting their DVRs to his show, R82? LOL.

R74, I happen to be in college, surrounded by straight hipsters. Don’t tell me about needing to get out more, asshole.

R82, he says he’s not straight either. He’s the „I don’t like labels“ type.

You must be an ARC (Adult Returning to College) or a commuter R86 because that’s exactly where you find them. LOL

Eh, another precious snowflake too special to be in a category with the rest of us. Anyone who says they’re beyond definition is not worth the effort.

R88, I go to school at the Seattle Art Institute. That place is full of young hipsters and artists.

I’m sorry that the „straight“ guys that act like they’re gay aren’t putting out for you. Their claims of being straight are just a lie they tell you because they don’t want to hurt your feelings, sweetie.

isn’t about „Putting out for me.“ This is about you seeing what you want to see and not what’s actually going down. You go to a fucking art school and you haven’t run into guys like this. Oh man, you’re either sight impaired or oblivious.

R91, I do run into guys like that. They’re openly gay.

R91, I suppose all those years before Shane Dawson came out, you actually believed him when he denied being bisexual.

Hmmph, R94. I suppose you’ve never heard of Tyker Oakleigh, either.

I feel like it’s mostly bisexuasl who pull this „no labels“ stuff, well cuse obviously they can.
[R91] I do run into guys like that. They’re openly gay.

Of course they are. Cause only effeminate gay men go to art school.
Hmmph, [R94]. I suppose you’ve never heard of Tyker Oakleigh, either.

R98, well, that just demonstrates how much you know.

You know, if you go through his instagram, he seems to be an extremely free spirit – highly energetic, playful, stupid, casually sexy, artistic – him being involved with men and women would seem to fit his personality.

Very handsome man. But why do so many young stars nowadays feel it’s appropriate to instantagram their lives?

He does have at least one thing in common with the modern gay porn star. He is ruining himself with all the tats.

Why are people in this thread acting like he can’t be bi? We have the „He’s clearly gay“ trolls and the „he is straight and just gay baiting“ trolls in full effect. Based on his history and insta personality I’d say there’s a good chance he’s bi (not saying it’s concrete though)

Bi/Gay guys tend to be the only ones interested in the whole „not into labels“ crap

R104, tell that to Stephen Amell who said exactly the same thing before he married a woman and had a kid with her.

Well, eventually bi guys to commit to a relationship R106, be it either a man or a woman. Doesn’t mean they aren’t bi – doesn’t mean they weren’t just avoiding labels so they could appeal to the largest audience of fans – doesn’t mean anything actually.

Ugh, R84. I already h8 that cow. Thanks for blowing up the illusion.

Wait, what’s that R106? Stephen Amell claimed he was bi, or that he wasn’t into labels?

Yes, he wrote a long message on Facebook hinting that he was queer (bi/gay) only to go ahead and marry a woman. The whole thing was ridiculous. I tried googling it, but I can’t find it again, sadly.
In all seriousness, I’ll happily declare my sexual orientation in public just as soon as there aren’t dickheads in the world who think whatever I say in some way determines my worth as a human being.

^ Oh yeah, I remember that. He crushed my little boy dreams of growing up to be Mr. and Mr. Amell someday. That was one of the saddest days of my life. The other one was when Brandon Routh got married.

R30 is also the OP, meaning the OP is responding to his own thread in the third person

The vibe I always get from this guy is straight, but totally open to fucking a casting director.

Who gives a flying fuck, R114! It’s best you go away from DL before you develop chronic seizures from all of this unforgivable deceit.

And thank you, OP, for starting this thread about the beautiful Nico!

Why do these marginal actors cover themselves in tattoos. They do know most casting agents will take one look at them and shout‘ Next!“. Wait until your Johnny Depp before disfiguring yourself like that.

The guy who plays Thad in „Younger“ is flaming, and they’ve cast him as some completely hetero bro. It’s laughable.

R101 Being with women has nothing to do with being free spirited, if he isn’t into that. Being gay and in relationships with women is THE OPPOSITED of being free spirited.

That Dino Tortamossi is one fine piece of eye candy!

Jesus Christ, one only has to look at the movies he chose to quote from (and the Britney/Christina), to know that he is no stranger to cock. As Michael Caine said about Richard Gere
I don’t know if he is actually gay, but he would probably help out if they were short-handed

The only thing that gave me pause after assuming that he and Krieger are fucking is that he did a „flaming“ impression of Krieger that I thought would be a no-no for one half of a gay couple (even a fuckbuddy „couple“), in their infancy. I’ve never dated a screaming guy, but I thought it would be taken as read that you don’t do a takeoff of their „flames“, certainly not early on at least – they’ve already received enough of that from „outsiders“.

I don’t know about that, R122. I’ve teased exes with that stuff too, especially if they have hang-outs about trying to appear masculine. I don’t think it’s an indicator either way.
I don’t know if he is actually gay, but he would probably help out if they were short-handed

R80 I don’t disagree with the conclusion, but what’s up with the inclusion of alcoholic on the list? Contrary to what right-wingers like to tell one another on their blogs, gay men aren’t actually more likely to drink more than straight men, and substance abuse is more of a problem actor than a gay thing.
Why are people in this thread acting like he can’t be bi? We have the „He’s clearly gay“ trolls and the „he is straight and just gay baiting“ trolls in full effect. Based on his history and insta personality I’d say there’s a good chance he’s bi (not saying it’s concrete though)

Uh, maybe because bi guys don’t exist, you fucktard.
They do know most casting agents will take one look at them and shout‘ Next!“.

We DISCUSSED this already! There’s NO SUCH thing as a „casting agent“, they’re „casting directors“! An „agent“ is a talent agent who by law charges 10% of the performer’s fee. Casting directors go nuts when they’re called „casting agents“ by non show bizzy are often IN show biz!

I wouldn’t have mentioned it, but this thread has already devolved into a cunt show, so I figured I’d get it off my chest.

When you look at who he follows on Instagram, it’s pretty obvious he’s into guys: Tom Daley, Colton Haynes, Matt Dallas, Shawn Pyfrom, Charlie Carver, etc.

Okay, I’ve confirmed, he’s definitely bisexual. He follows a „bisexual pride“ profile. He also follows a „gayletter“ profile which has the description, „The best of queer culture without labels.“

When in doubt, check out who someone follows on their Instagram.
When in doubt, check out who someone follows on their Instagram.

Yeah, that’s called „Circumstantial evidence.“ Watch „Law and Order“ much, R130?

He’s handsome and he’s a fame ho. You can’t maximize your fame potential by identifying as gay.

If he’s following bisexual/queer related profiles, Occam’s razor says that he’s queer and not trying to hide it.

After reading that he follows queer themed profiles, I’m gonna change my answer to bisexual. Sorry, but I don’t think the girlfriends were beards, but I also don’t think he’s fully straight.. so bisexual. Either way I’m still not completely buying this „relationship“ with Kyle Krieger, could just be attention whoring tbh.

R122, you believe in a lot of ignorant old stereotypes.
See the chameleon / lying there, in the sun / All things to everyone / Run, run away …
You can’t maximize your fame potential by identifying as gay.

Yeah, it doesn’t appear to have done much for that Reed guy from Modern Family, not that he did it for that reason.

r43, what’s wrong with letting a hot guy use you for capitalistic gain?

And allowing me to creep on his hotness and share his nude body is a legitimate service, in my opinion. Just don’t pay him as much as a hot guy who puts out.

The real douchebags are the hotties who keep it all to themselves.

I consider the Nick Joneses of the world to be good sports.

I’d rather have a tease than be bashed or excluded from everything, which is, again, the true douchebaggery.

Gay. He’s inching out the closet door as a bi, but that boy only likes cock.

I’m supposed to know and respect common Youtube attention whores like Shane Dawson and Tyler Oakley?

What the fuck do they have to offer me? What’s so great about their work?

They don’t do any substantive work. They don’t do anything for anyone but themselves. Everybody can do what they do.

So, who gives a shit? Get a real job, you can’t fuck us all.

What’s with this generation that worships fame for fame’s sake? What’s with people who mistake celebrity for service?

So Nico has come out as „fluid“ (not „effluent“) and Krieger posted and deleted a tweet about it.

His subsequent tweet („Sorry that was messy“) has a bunch of comments referencing Nico’s „revelation“.

Can any of you find the deleted tweet? I bet some of you at least follow Kyle and saw the tweet before he deleted it.

Another nobody from nowhere. DLers love them though…….

He comes out as bisexual („sexually fluid“) only to reveal he’s in a relationship with a woman. Gotta love heterosexual privilege!

Short simple brilliant. Yet a color palette that hits my deepest receptors and activates feeling that combine warmth, comfort and deep creepiness and discomfort.

Just like a circus did. Before they were all made politically correct and corporate.

how’s that for a misplaced post 🙂 I congratulate myself.

I figured just another crazy, barely coherent, DL’er. So it’s actually about the movie Dumbo. I assumed it referred to Nico or someone else.

Muriel, what is the point with primetime now? I have been locked out for about 8 hours. I’m from Europe. It was nighttime in America. I just don’t get it. It’s not even the weekend ffs!

Found the tweet. Don’t say I never give y’all anything.
Seems convenient you’re only ever talking about your fluidly [sic] when dating a female.
Dude looks gay as fuck. If [bold]you have any idea who this nobody is,[/bold] look in the mirror and get a life.

R154, it’s true though. He didn’t have the balls to come out while in a gay relationship.

Maybe he’s bi and as I said above, is just figuring out how to manage his career with this info out there.

And some of you wonder why more people aren’t open about bisexuality….

R159, and he did it while in a relationship with a woman.

R160, I see no point in coming out while in a straight relationship, he’s just taking advantage of straight privilege. It would be ballsier if he came out while in an actual gay relationship. He’s risking nothing now. Come out while in a gay relationship, or don’t come out at all. I don’t give a fuck if you’re „bi“ but still in a straight relationship. That just means straight to me. I think we should go back to gays and lesbians. Let the bisexuals and trans fight their own battles. It’s fucking ridiculous that the bisexuals in STRAIGHT relationships claim „bi-erasure“, why SHOULD they belong to the LG community if they live a straight lifestyle anyway? They can take advantage of straight privilege on a daily basis, gays and lesbians cant. Join the LG community if in a gay relationship, otherwise stay the fuck out, thank you.

R162, he came out as „sexually fluid“ while in a relationship with a WOMAN. Do try to pay attention dear.

Probably because he was with a woman after a man and gays were saying „hey what the fuck we thought you were gay“ to him.

This is how young people talk these days. They don’t want to be pinned down. Whatever. And he’s in show biz. This is par for the course.

You know there is an actual thread on him coming out for real

The last video he did with Kyle seemed to be a post breakup one. Nico was eager as a puppy but Kyle avoids holding his gaze. And Tortorella says that he misses Kyle’s dog, yet they both live in NYC so he’d see the dog all the time if they hadn’t broke up.

Nico gives the impression of being rather fickle. And more narcissistic than even Kyle.
(bisexuals) can take advantage of straight privilege on a daily basis, gays and lesbians cant.

Plenty of gay actors and actresses have been taking and are taking advantage of straight privilege in Hollywood. Their careers depend on pretending to be straight. It’s stupid to dis guys like Tortorella who come out as sexually fluid since we all know it might seriously hamper their future career prospects. Anyone coming out in the entertainment industry is brave.
The last video he did with Kyle seemed to be a post breakup one. Nico was eager as a puppy but Kyle avoids holding his gaze. And Tortorella says that he misses Kyle’s dog, yet they both live in NYC so he’d see the dog all the time if they hadn’t broke up.

This is some creepy Nancy Drew shit. I can’t imagine paying this much attention to something so innocuous and irrelevant.

Obviously. Which explains why this is „News“ to gay media.

Kyle Krieger is so disgusting he must have a 13 incher to be talked about so much.

Why’s he disgusting, R172? Besides the whole cliché thing he’s got going on.

R170. Yes, it took a tremendous amount of effort to find a three week old video on Krieger’s youtube channel and to read how they behaved towards one another.

Tortorella also said that he knows Krieger keeps a seltzer water by his bed at night. Again, it was very creepy and Nancy Drewish of me to notice he said that and to conclude that they’ve slept in the same bed multiple times.

Is it also creepy that I’d like to see them, two attractive young men, in a sex tape?

It’s also funny that anyone thinks someone would have to play Nancy Drew when those two have deliberately teased their relationship.

The poster is probably pissed that he hasn’t seen either on What’s My Line and therefore they shouldn’t be talked about a legitimate forum like Datalounge.

Nancy Drew probably would have enjoyed a Hardy Boys sextape.

Leave it to 70’s Germans to know how to dress Shaun.

Yes, but Shawn Cassidy was the filling in the sandwich, surprisingly. And Pamela Sue was hunnnnnggg. Sorry if that disappoints.

Pamela was a Russian sleeper cell top-half only horse hung transgender sent to brainwash millions and look what we got today?

How they expected a drab cis like Emma Samms to replace her, I don’t know.

Kyle tweeted Raymond Braun not to ask any questions about ex-boyfriends on the red carpet of the LogoTV awards.

Logo is putting on an awards show when they could be giving Drag Race All Stars a decent fucking budget.

Drag Race is better on a shoe string budget. The tacky production values match perfectly the tacky „talent“ on display.

I said Drag Race All Stars, not Drag Race. Drag Race is done on the cheap. Drag Race All Stars was an insult.

All Stars is going to have 10 eps this season, so it’s not nearly as bad as the 6 episode first season. They should’ve put it on immediately after the last season of the main show though, Project Runway does. I don’t see why Ru can’t work as hard as Tim Gunn. Unless it’s LOGO that won’t pay for it.

I think it’s Logo. Ru has several hosting gigs. He’s not filing his nails between seasons.

Please do try to stay on topic you nellies! There is a fucking Drag Race thread!

I don’t even know who Nico is, Drag Race is way more interesting.

Peter Tortelli was the beauty who had the locker above mine in HS when I played JV soccer. He would stand on the bench and strip down and he had the most amazing cock and really low hangers. His jewels right in my face and he knew I was looking and sometime smirk a bit. What a charming tease. He was skinny, smooth and ripped.

His Italian restaurant is the most beloved in my neck of woods.

I’m glad to see she’s kicked the horse and outlived Lou Reed to boot.

I was in Ibiza when Nico died. Many many moons ago.

So, now we have confirmation that Nico WAS dating stylist and Instagram „celebrity“ Kyle Krieger. But, the coward would never admit it. And, shortly after „coming out“ as sexually fluid (insert Liz Lemon eyeroll), he apparently dumped Kyle for some chick who Kyle now believes he was carrying on with while they were dating. And did you notice that Nico never featured Kyle on his Instagram, but now features this new chick ALL THE TIME?

This fucking „sexually fluid“ thing is such cowardice. Just admit you’re a (homophobic) bisexual man and stop with this „sexually fluid“ bs.

Kyle talks about it all in this video starting at 1:33…

R199, I’m sorry but this is partly Kyle’s fault for getting involved with a bisexual guy. They all lie and cheat.

The girl isn’t new exactly. They’ve known each other for several years.

While it’s true that Nico hasn’t given her the same tight lipped social media treatment he gave Kyle and La Demi, and that’s shitty and undermines his whole „I march to my own drum“ shtick, he’s outed himself as the free love type in interviews. It wouldn’t surprise me if Kyle assumed exclusivity that was never stated.
This fucking „sexually fluid“ thing is such cowardice. Just admit you’re a (homophobic) bisexual man and stop with this „sexually fluid“ bs.

How is it bullshit? If Nico dates men and women he certainly sounds to be sexually fluid, and yes it means the same as bisexual but people like you calling bi men homophobic are the reason people try to stay away from the word. We all know out actors still don’t have it easy, especially if you’re not an established star like NPH was when he was forced to come out. Krieger might be a nice guy but after watching him a bit he sounds like a piece of work himself, so I wouldn’t necessarily blame anyone for dumping him. I mean who the hell would like to hear stories about their love life told by a fame hungry vlogger? I’m a Kinsey 5 guy myself and guess what: I didn’t choose to be bi, just like Nico doesn’t choose to fall for girls, if he really does that. Obviously there are always gay men who don’t believe bisexuality even exists or if it does those guys should only be with either men or with women.

just another an attention-whore: bisexual/pansexual/demisexual/kinsey 5.93/kinsey 5.14159265358979/sexually fluid– >what’s next.

Yeah, Nancy Drew. We’re already over it. Time to retire or stalk another „Weblebrity.“
Krieger might be a nice guy but after watching him a bit he sounds like a piece of work himself.

I’m only here for pics and more gossip on Nico’s big cock.

Instagram / social media drama. When not even Reality TV is interested in your sorry ass.

This is why you don’t date bisexual men, you’ll never be able to compete with straight privilege.

I agree with those who say what is the point of a guy coming out as bisexual while he’s in a relationship with a woman. But then, I also think that, for lots of guys, it’s just a way of dipping their toe in the water before coming out later as gay. I’m sure this is particularly true for young actors like Nico who are torn between wanting to be true to themselves (in a more enlightened society) but also still want to have a career in mainstream Hollywood (as opposed to „being stuck“ doing cable shows and independent films).
So, now we have confirmation that Nico WAS dating stylist and Instagram „celebrity“ Kyle Krieger.

Nico used to be featured quite a bit earlier in the year.
So, now we have confirmation that Nico WAS dating stylist and Instagram „celebrity“ Kyle Krieger.

R213 – Come on, dude. It’s LITERALLY embedded in the post you quoted at R199. And it’s doubly-confirmed in the comments section of the YT video from R199 with fans telling Kyle that any mention of Kyle on Nico’s IG almost instantly gets deleted.

NicoNicoNico, have the courage of your convictions.

Has it been mentioned that Nico or his team made Kyle delete a IG post in the New Year that referred to Nico as „my boyfriend“?

The post was saved by a fan on tumblr. It was a simple shot of Kyle’s sister, the friend Kyle name checks in the recent video, and Tortorella.
Kyle talked about it in the video in [R199].

R218 Did you even read the post at R199? It’s at 1:33 into the video.

Watching Nico on „Younger“ premiere tonight. He’s insanely hot.

So is he still dating that woman or has he moved back to men yet

Kyle officially calls Nico his ex. It must sucks for him to have his bf leave for some vag.

Kyle Krieger. I just don’t see the attraction. How can be someone be this great deep thinker and yet do all that stuff to his face to make it look like a plastic doll? People who are really deep don’t fucking care about looking for other people’s approval or hold on to some youthful look (or a look that’s trendy and popular) like their lives depend on it.

What „stuff to his face“ has he done? I’m asking. I’m clueless about these things.

What the fuck is going on in that video R214? They need to be slapped Three Stooges style.
Kyle officially calls Nico his ex. It must sucks for him to have his bf leave for some vag.

OH GOD. That podcast of Nico’s is insufferable. I tried listening for five minutes to see if they’d talk about which one was the top and just had to give up. How fucking self-involved do you have to be to create a podcast and then dedicate it to discussing your love life?? I will say, from the little I heard, Kyle seemed a bit smarter and self-aware than his LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME WHY WON’T YOU LOOK AT ME social profile would suggest. But, still, GAH!

This is why you should never date a „bisexual“, it’s not even worth the effort.
Obviously. Which explains why this is „News“ to gay media.

„I really like the term bisexual, and I fall somewhere under the umbrella that is bisexuality. I use the word bisexual because people have fought for so long for this word and the fact that it even exists in part of the LGBTI-et cetera is just a beautiful thing, and I’m not gonna be the person to take, like, fluidity or emotional fluidity or pansexual. I’m comfortable somewhere under the bisexual label, and I’m proud of it.“—Nico

Nico is DL’s Jerri Blank. He WAS a boozer, a user and a loser.

This guy actually has worked (albeit on the fringes) and I’ve actually seen him on screen, yet he’s so talent and charisma free that I fail to remember him in a single thing. He will be eternally f list. Only DL unearths these nobodies that no one will ever care about.

Inside Younger Star Nico Tortorella and Bethany Meyers‘ Nontraditional Love Story

Nico Tortorella and Bethany Meyers tied the knot March 9

Every love story is unique, and Nico Tortorella and his new bride Bethany Meyers’ is no different.

After 11 years together, the actor — who is sexually fluid — and fitness and lifestyle entrepreneur — who identifies as gay — wed on March 9 in an intimate courthouse ceremony, the Younger star announced Saturday on Instagram.

“Just married. For real,” Tortorella, 29, wrote alongside a series of photos of their wedding day, adding that the couple had written about their story for LGBTQ publication them.

For their special day, they wore “genderblending ensembles” that incorporated both dresses and pants because as the actor wrote in the publication, “in this relationship, we both wear the pants and the dress.”

In honor of their non-traditional romance, here’s a look back (including old photos!) at what the couple has said about their polyamorous relationship of 11 years.

Nico Tortorella Says ‚There’s Nothing More Masculine Than Bottoming‘

Nico Tortorella Says ‚There’s Nothing More Masculine Than Bottoming‘

There will be absolutely no bottom-shaming in this household! That’s the message star and total heartthrob Nico Tortorella is trying to relay to the queer community when it comes to men who like to receive!

Attitude Magazinethe genderfluid actorTV series like Younger and Celebrity Drag Race) opened up about a bunch of different topics, the likes of which included their queerness, being in a poly marriage with their spouse (human rights activist Bethany C. Meyers), and even the many dynamics of sex — specifically the shame associated with men who like to bottom.

„I think that’s just a problem with the a**hole in general, and deeming certain body parts as dirty or filthy,“ Nico, who has openly talked about being vers in the bedroomAttitude about why they think there is so much stigma associated with men who are bottoming during anal sex. (It’s no secret that femmephobia is a big problem in the LGBTQ+ community, especially for a lot of queer men.) „I think that is a deep-rooted issue with the body in general, whether you’re male-bodied or female-bodied.“

„But I think specifically for men to be put in this ’sub-position‘ is not masculine, when anyone who’s bottomed ever knows you need to man the f*** up to get the job done. So I don’t think there’s anything more masculine than bottoming, let’s be honest.“

The Walking Dead issues powerful rebuke to homophobic fans after queer love story sparks bigoted backlash

Jelani Alladin and Nico Tortorella play a gay couple in The Walking Dead spin-off. (Amazon Prime)

The Walking Dead has firmly shut down homophobia in the fandom after trolls were whipped into a frenzy by a queer storyline.

The show’s official Twitter account made it clear that homophobia will not be tolerated after some fans criticised spin-off series The Walking Dead: World Beyond for depicting a gay couple.

In the series Jelani Alladin plays Will, a former security officer at the Campus Colony who is also Felix’s boyfriend (Nico Tortorella). Their relationship has been the subject of ire from anti-LGBT+ fans, with many bending over backwards to try and justify their homophobia.

That homophobia spilled over on social media after Alladin spoke about the beauty of representing a same-sex relationship on television on the podcast.

Speaking on the podcast, Alladin said: “There was no kind of need to explain anything further and I love that is kind of putting that forward, that LGBTQ relationships are nothing different than any other kind of relationship.

“They have the same struggles, they have the same complexities, they get mad at each other, they love each other just as hard.”

He went on to say that his character loves Felix “unconditionally” despite his flaws.

„Younger“ star Nico Tortorella married his polyamorous, gay-identifying partner in gorgeous genderblending outfits

Nico Tortorella and Bethany Meyers wore crowns to their intimate wedding ceremony earlier this month, and it makes perfect sense. Judging by the photos and the heartfelt article they wrote themselves about the experience, the union between the Younger actor and the fitness and lifestyle entrepreneur was nothing short of regal.

The whole day the two described in their frank story for LGBTQ publication them. sounds like a touching non-traditional celebration of their love and their 12-year polyamorous relationship, but a few details in particular stuck out. First, there were the outfits. The couple sported matching white, drapey numbers that were part gown, part tux. The “genderbending ensembles,” Tortorella, said in the post, were designed to be “timeless androgynous paraphernalia mimicking romanesque sculpture that fluidly blends masculine and feminine. in this relationship, we both wear the pants and the dress.” In pictures posted on each of their social media accounts, the silver crowns they each topped their looks with take things up another fabulous notch.

The ceremony itself, as the pair described it, also sounds like the perfect choice for the personal vibe Tortorella and Meyers were going for on their big day. The wedding went down at the office of the city clerk in Lower Manhattan on March 9, and their particular nuptials were presided over by a person named, fittingly, Angel. After the courthouse bit was done, Meyers and Tortorella hopped in a cab and headed over to St. Paul’s Chapel, the oldest church in Manhattan, and somehow managed to exchange their seriously tearjerking vows (no, really, go read them) without so much as having reserved the place (wait, but how did they actually pull that off?). Meyers wrote in the article that for as unique as the day was, she was surprised that it stirred some pretty traditional wedding-related emotions inside her:

‚“I finally began to view it for what marriage was at its deepest core. The union between two people who love each other, who wanted to build their foundation of future generations together, who wanted the legal rights to wed and be recognized by the state as a single unit.“

The two have been open and vocal about their sexual fluidity and polyamorous relationship over the years. Tortorella, who plays Josh TVLand’s Younger, has said he sees himself as pansexual, while Meyers has said she identifies as gay, though both emphasis that they’re not into labels. “I think that if we all just saw each other for people and individuals and didn’t try to give each other these [labels], the world would be such a more beautiful place,” Tortorella told The Advocate last year.

Instead of a honeymoon, Meyers and Tortorella spent the days after their wedding working on their joint post about the experience, not to exploit it, they said, but to “simply to share a piece of our love story with the hope of shedding light and inspiring other nontraditional relationships,” Tortorella wrote. Meyers echoed a similar sentiment about wanting others to see themselves in the couple’s tying the knot:

„Here we are, the day I dreamed of yet not the day I imagined, and I couldn’t be happier. Plenty won’t understand it, something I’m gradually learning to accept. For others, it will help open their eyes to different ways to love. And for some, our story will make them feel less alone. It will give them strength to ask for the things they want and need in a partner.“

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have some happy sobbing to do.

Nico Tortorella opens up

Nico Tortorella, the hairy chested star of Younger, was profiled in Vulture this week. In the piece, he’s feeding pigeons with Lucky Charms in Manhattan’s Tompkins Square Park.

Feeling relaxed, he opened up about his sexual orientation – and his past struggles with drugs and alcohol.

He also shares why he never wants to marry another man.

“This is going to sound fucked, but I knew that he was really struggling. And I was like, Look, if I hook up with him, maybe it will make things easier for him.

We hooked up. There was no assplay at all. It was just dick-to-mouth here. He was shaken up about it and I was like, ‘It’s fine. What happened last night doesn’t make you the person that you are. Why are you putting so much weight on it?’ And when that happened, I was like, Oh, I’m thinking about this differently than everyone else is thinking about it.”

“The more I’m having these conversations, the more comfortable I am identifying as bisexual. I’ve been so hesitant about using the word for so long, because it does have a negative connotation in our generation. People fought for so long for that ‘B’ in LGBT, and I refuse to be the person that’s going to throw that away because I think I have a more colorful word.”

“The only way to move to a genderless, raceless society is if everybody, across the board, (a) stops being an asshole, and (b) stops being so fucking sensitive.”

“Ultimately, in my fluidity, at the end of the day I never could see myself marrying a man. I could never see myself having kids with a man. I don’t even like hanging out with dudes for the most part.”

“Once you’re blacked out, there’s not enough cocaine in the world that can take you off it. There was one point where I was so fucked up, I woke up hung-over, I called the IV doctor to come to my apartment, and I hooked up the drip for like an hour. As soon as it was done, I bought a bag of coke and had a handle of fucking whiskey and started all over again. Living the Hollywood dream.”

“I definitely got into the underbelly of Hollywood. When you’re living the celebrity life and not working at the same time, shit can go dark real fast. I was drinking almost all day, every day, and hurting people that I love. I knew I was going to die at one point. I wanted to die at one point, and that was what made me turn around.”

A Family of Their Own

“I think the way I use the word fluidity is like fluid in everything, fluid in train of thought,” Tortorella said. “It doesn’t always have to be one thing. The one thing anybody can talk about, no matter race, religion, sexuality or gender, is love.”

“We’re family,” said Tortorella, who, alongside Meyers, did not use the “boyfriend” or “girlfriend” labels.

Meyers admitted that navigating their relationship hasn’t always been easy — especially when trying to figure out how other romantic partners factor in.

“I think we’re raised with this idea that you’re supposed to go and find ‘the one,’ especially women,” Meyers explained. “You’re looking for your Prince Charming. You need to be proposed to. There’s this one person you’re searching to find, so the idea of finding a stability partner, and having other things on top of that, feels too messy.”

The Purpose of an Open Relationship

On the premiere of Personal Space, Bravo’s six-episode digital talk show about romance, relatives and relationships, Tortorella defended his polyamorous sexual identity.

“I’m not in an open relationship so I can go out and just f— whoever I want,” Tortotella explained in a September 2017 Bravo clip. “For me, it’s more about the ability to emotionally connect with people outside of my primary partner.”

Meyers, who identifies as a lesbian, has said Tortorella is the only man she could imagine being with, and he’s been linked to actresses Sara Paxton and Olesya Rulin in the past.

In the September 2017 issue of , Tortorella opened up about the physical aspect of his relationship. “For me, sex is such an explosive exchange of energy between two people that if you’re not connected, energetically, before you have sex, it can be damaging,” Tortorella said about popular dating apps that have created a hookup culture.

“I totally understand people who want to have casual sex,” he added. “I think what you have to do in this scenario is stay in your lane. Find people who want similar things — physically, energetically, and emotionally.”

While Tortorella and Meyers don’t seek to put labels on themselves or each other, they say they understand the world’s need for them.

“I can be emotionally, physically attracted to men,” he said. “I can be emotionally, physically attracted to women. The ‘B’ in LGBTQ-plus has been fought for, for so long. I’m not going to be the person that’s like, ‘No, I need a ‘P,’ I need another letter!’ I stand by people that have paved this way for somebody like me.”

The Walking Dead queer love story sent homophobes into a frenzy.

Anti-LGBT+ commenters quickly shared their thoughts on the relationship. One said their on-screen love looked “forced”, while another said the gay relationship was “exactly why” they wouldn’t be watching the spin-off.

Another commented: “I don’t like how every character simply HAS TO HAVE A LOVE INTEREST. Oh we can’t find a character for you, screw it you’re gay with this guy. It’s so fake just for added emotional drama.”

Alladin’s comments prompted so much backlash that the official Walking Dead Twitter account felt the need to intervene.

Writing on Twitter on Tuesday (26 January), account said: “Hi, hello. If LGBTQ+ characters on television (or anywhere) make you uncomfortable or angry, please unfollow us.

Donston

Nico’s year-long coming out parade was just too messy and irrevocably tarnished his image. He/they/them pimped out a same-sex relationship that lasted only a few months all on social media and to the press pretty much to get attention, interviews and “queer clout”. While he also just said a lot of dumb shit along the way: “I can’t be ‘gay’ because most of my friends are female” (a completely idiotic perspective that has nothing to do with sense of self, sexuality or the romantic, sexual, affection, emotional investment, relationship contentment spectrum). “Black and Latino guys can only really be ‘straight’ or ‘gay” (huh?). “I don’t believe anyone should identify as ‘gay’ (but it’s perfectly fine to embrace all these other identities, including “straight”).

He came off messy, ignorant, manipulative and narcissistic as hell. Too much of what he said had layers of homo inferiority and gay shaming. He was obsessed with talking how his orientation and sense of gender but seemed to lack any real tact and self-comfort and lack a real understanding of himself and other people. It just came off like he was constantly seeking attention and validation and looking to desperately fit into whatever sociopolitical sphere. I understand being a public figure and contending with different forms of fluidity and contractions and mental health struggles and not really knowing how it be “out” or what identities to embrace. But too much messy shit ended piled up. And he/they/them never really went back and fleshed out those old perspective. Yet, the press mostly glosses over it. So, until Nico confronts that problematic, messy stuff I don’t think I could watch anything with Nico in it. Not that we need another version of Walking Dead anyways.

UlfRaynor

If you think that that was messy, you should have seen the live pod caste he did with Shane Michael Singh who describes himself as a celibate/gay/ playboy and editor of Playboy magazine, imparting their homophobic belief that sexuality, like gender is a social construct not an innate, immutable characteristic and that peoples sexuality is determined largely in part by their environment and how they “choose” to self ;s pure insanity and extremely homophobic and anti-gay. especially considering neither man has any formal education in psychology or is the exact same train of thought used by practitioners of conversion/reparative , here’s Queerty toting this homophobe as some sort of pioneering icon in the LGBT ;s sickening!

UlfRaynor, you’re also talking about something that belies what I’m trying to say. First, in my teens and first half of my twenties I had pretty straightforward attractions, arousals and desires. Things got more complicated. Whatever you want to call it, it is what it is. I understand the differences between arousal, attractions, sexual desires, sexual enjoyment, passions, etc. I also understand the development of or dissipation of paraphiliacs. But once again, it all is what it is.

Personally, I couldn’t care less how people identify or don’t identify or how people live their lives. I understand everyone has their own dimensions, struggles, journeys. I understand how specific and peculiar gender and sexuality and the romantic, sexual, affection, emotional, relationship spectrum is. I resent how Nico connected to “gay” and pimped out a brief same-sex affair all over social media and in the press for clout. I resent the underpinnings of homo inferiority and gay shaming in his words. And I resent how little Nico educated themselves when it comes to race, sexuality, orientation, gender and different people’s struggles before constantly going on these pretentious tirades. Yet, Nico tried to be some “spokesperson”. What I’m talking about is different from what you’re talking about.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but my posts are deadly serious. It’s not about “reading” anyone. Everyone makes mistakes. But you also need to own up to those mistakes. Nico never has. Nico spent a whole year saying a lot of dumb and ignorant shit concerning race, sexuality, orientation and gender. Them/they also said quite a few not-so-subtle homo inferiority pushing and gay shaming things. Nico as well used a few month old homo affair to constantly get attention from “queer media”, to “prove” whatever queerness and to gain clout. That whole stretch of time Nico was being unrelentingly and needlessly problematic. It’d be one thing if it were many years and Nico was incredibly young then. But Nico was grown as hell, and this was only like three years ago. I’m sorry, but too much silly shit went down for me to just put it in the past. While making this all about “gays are too judgmental” just makes you come off problematic as Nico and belittles the issues. This is from someone who likely contends with a lot of the same convolution and struggles Nico has. I get not knowing how to express yourself publicly, going through certain struggles and confusions and the trolls getting to you. But I just can’t stand for that much nonsense. Until Nico directly confronts this stuff I’m not gonna be cool with “gay media” promoting them/they.

Then you had the time, just a year ago, when Nico tried to publicly shame Ashton Kutcher. Nico shaded Kutcher for telling him to go home and sober up and telling him that he shouldn’t come to a professional environment high. You also had the time Nico tried to low-key out James Franco. (As if anyone still wants Franco’s creepy, hack-y, pretentious, abusing ass to be seen as part of the “queer community”). Nico spent a couple of years being an absolute media whore, using a brief same-sex affair to get constantly get “gay cred”, blaming a variety of others for them/they’s struggles and saying generally ignorant and sometimes hateful things. I understand coming out and being out is not easy for everyone. I understand mistakes being made. I understand contending with fluidity, contradictions, past traumas and mental health struggles. But a lot of people go through what Nico has gone through. At the end of the day, you have to own up to your mistakes, confront your issues and stop being so messy and problematic.

“While we also encourage you to look within and be more accepting, know that there is no place in our fandom for hateful discrimination or wilful ignorance. Thank you.”

The tweet has been liked more than 18,000 times, with huge swathes of Walking Dead fans showing their support for queer representation in the replies.

However, the tweet also led to many others doubling down on their homophobia, bizarrely trying to defend their distaste at seeing LGBT+ characters represented on television.

The Walking Dead has won praise from fans in the past for its representation of LGBT+ characters. The series also stars gender fluid and bisexual actor Nico Tortorella, a longtime fan favourite among queer viewers.

All nine seasons of The Walking Dead and spin-off series The Walking Dead: World Beyond are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial and then cancel or pay £7.99 per month and watch other films and shows available on the platform.
