Gloria Gaynor Concert

The Design District is a fun place to visit. Many nice stores to shop from or look around. There are many name brand name and elegant stores. Many Restaurants to choose from, some a little costly, but delicious food. The place is very nice to walk and look around. Check the calendar, many especial events happen at the Miami Design District. I have visited a couple of times around the year and it is always a nice place to visit.

Shops were elegant. Cafe food was fresh and lemonade freshly squeezed and tart. Art tour was comprehensive but a tad too long.

There are a few beautiful sculptures, curated spaces and buildings, but overall the design district is primarily high end retail shopping. If you want YSL, Versace, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Fendi and loads more all at your fingertips and within a few steps walking distance from one store to the next, then this is your shopping mecca. If, like me, high end clothes and jewelry shopping does not really interest you all that much, and window shopping even less so, then perhaps just set aside about an hour or two for a walk through the area to see the artwork.

If in the Miami area, check out the Design District. High end shopping with beautiful surroundings! Great places to have lunch too. A must do when in the area. Loved the Dior Pop Up Cafe on the rooftop of the store.

I never know about this place until my friend showed me the location, nice and clean. Staffs were very nice. So many amazing works of art here for you to enjoy.

Disco-Hit – So feiert Gloria Gaynor 40 Jahre „I will survive“

The country music star has been regularly covering Gaynor’s hit on the road

Kacey Musgraves has been known to whip out her cover of “I Will Survive” while on the road supporting Golden Hour. During her concert in New York City on Tuesday, the country music star was joined by the one and only Gloria Gaynor, the disco queen behind the original 1978 hit.

As BrooklynVegan points out, Musgraves and Gaynor joined forces onstage at Radio City Music Hall and performed “I Will Survive” together. Gaynor’s single is already a pure anthem on its own, but throw in the power of both artists, in collaboration, and last evening was easily a night to remember for all those in attendance.

“I recorded this song in 1975, 40 years ago, and I can’t tell you how pleased I am that Kacey is carrying on the tradition, helping you all to survive,” Gaynor told the crowd after their cover.

’s „I Will Survive“ that she’s been playing on tour all year. But this time, Kacey was joined by Gloria Gaynor herself to perform it!

Kacey started the cover by herself, and then the stage lit up, and Gloria emerged and turned the song into a duet with Kacey. „Gloria Gaynor the queen of disco!“ Kacey yelled before an instrumental break. Then Gloria motioned at Kacey and asked the crowd, „Isn’t she awesome?“ After the song ended, Gloria continued, „I recorded this song in 1975, 40 years ago, and I can’t tell you how pleased I am that Kacey is carrying on the tradition, helping you all to survive.“ Watch video of the cover and see them pictured together backstage below.

Kacey and Lucius do it again at Radio City tonight (10/16). Will Gloria or any other guests show up? Stay tuned.

Live reviews

It is the ultimate karaoke hit. The song for every woman who has ever had a man do her wrong. You’d be lying if you said that there’s never been a time you wanted to burst into song and yell at the top of your voice, „Go on now go, walk out the door. Just turn around now, cos‘ you’re not welcome anymore“, the tag line for any dramatic break-up.

I’ve always thought that it would’ve been so fun to have been growing up in the 1970s – it really was such a great decade for music. The soft spot that I have for disco music is largely the result of Gloria Gaynor’s catalogue of hits, with „I Will Survive“ being the prime anthem.

As a Gloria Gaynor, you can imagine my excitement when my Christmas shopping trip to New York in 2012 coincided with a gig at B.B Kings Blues Club. I was finally going to be able to hear those disco tracks that I had grown up listening to live and what an experience it was. 62 years of age at the time, Gloria proved that age really is just a number as she belted her way through a string of hits, including „Never Can Say Goodbye“, which was a real crowd pleaser.

Since seeing Gloria Gaynor live, I’ve found few other gigs as satisfying and enjoyable. It made my longing to have grown up in the 70s even more pronounced but I’m proud to say that I am a disco fan and will continue to appreciate the timeless anthems that she has blessed us with.

The show was just ok. Looks like she was sick, very slow on stage

It was my wife’s birthday. She has been Gloria’s fan for forty years. She was in heaven!

Yeah yeah yeah it was a beautiful night!BBKING is always the number one

It was my bday and she had her security comeOut to wish me a happy bday and she also wished me a happy day!

We booked this only a few days before a family trip to New York with our grown up son and daughter (18 and 21 years old), with contrasting musical tastes, who were politely dubious I think about it (eyebrows were raised indulgently) and I wondered if it might have been a mistake given that it is about 30 years or so since her heyday and it was a small venue, tickets were easy to get (ours were numbered 21-24 – unallocated seating) relatively cheap compared to Broadway shows in the area and other big gigs I’d say. So I thought maybe we were going to see a hasbeen. No way – the whole show was wonderful from start to finish. The atmosphere on stage and in the audience was great from the word go. The band were all great musicians and clearly having a great time (bass, guitar, keyboards, drums, 3 backing singers and a 3 piece brass section). Gloria Gaynor sings brilliantly and comes across as a great entertainer, very likeable and with her feet on the ground. Very happy to share the stage and attention with the band – duets with backing singers and opportunities for others to take the lead particularly the backing singers but also the trombone player who looked an unassuming chap in glasses but who turned out to be a great singer and wildly energetic performer (words cannot describe his rendition of Pharell Williams‘ „Happy“). All four of us had the most fantastic night and I think certainly for me and my daughter it was the highlight of our New York trip. Will stand out as one of the best gigs (if not best?) I’ve been were not allocated as this was a bar and diner (B B Kings no less) but we were advised that doors opened 90 minutes before start time and seats allocated on a first come first served basis. Our experience of this made us think that there would be a scrum, but no – there was an orderly queue and we we were admitted in small groups and shown to a table. The venue is such that it didn’t seem like anywhere would have been too far away or difficult to see. I liked the caberet style of seating, something I’ve not really done before.

Brilliant ! I always go to BB’s once when in New York, and this was probably the best yet. I love the 70’s-80’s Motown & Blues so this was always going to be high on the list of expectations. Well she didn’t disappoint, the band were spectacular and she was truly stunning. She had the whole house up and chanting with her top hits and various covers. She managed to re-invent the original club Disco feel complete with glitter ball. BBKings are always good at putting on a great show with a party atmosphere in a Classical New York setting.

I guess I was expecting to be transformed back into Disco glory but was disappointed. Gloria’s voice was Ok …. which can be expected with age. I didn’t want to hear her cover everyone else’s hits…especially Donna Summers‘. There was too much emphasis on her band and back-up singers. The gospel song in the middle of the set was out of place. This was my first time at B.B. King. Food was bad. Service was ok. It was all about packing people sight lines for many were poor.

Excellent choice songs her band are all talented to give a number of their show. I would watch it again.

She did a great job; and the whole band and back up singers had parts as well and they did great as well!! We were dancing in our seats, brought back memories! Would go see her again!!

Gloria put on a great show! She sang her big hits and Donna Summers, Michael, and many Motown hits! Enjoyed meeting her after the show as well! Class Act and Legend!

Gloria Gaynor: Neues Album nach 17 Jahren und ein Konzert in Berlin

Vor 40 Jahren sang Gloria Gaynor erstmals ihren Welthit „I Will Survive“ heraus. Im November 2019 kommt sie nach Berlin.

Essen.

Dann wird sie nicht umhin kommen, ihre berühmtesten Hits zu singen: „I Am What I Am“, „Never Can Say Goodbye“ – und vor allem „I Will Survive“.

November in der New Concert Hall Berlin. Anfang 2019 will sie ihr Album „Testimony“ veröffentlichen.

Gaynor brought the house down with a rendition of “I Will Survive.”

Singer-songwriter Gloria Gaynor reached deep into her gospel background for a moving livestreamed concert as part of the „Together At Home“ virtual series on Thursday.

The unwavering clarity of Gaynor’s voice shone through ongoing technical difficulties as she performed the songs „Joy Comes in the Morning,“ „Day One,“ and „Only You Can Do,“ and covered „Way Maker“ by Sinach.

The Grammy-winning artist repeatedly encouraged her fans to visit to „take meaningful action“ to support the World Health Organization (WHO) in its fight to stop the spread of coronavirus.

„This is so much more than a concert,“ she said. „We’re trying to help the WHO get the funds they need to fight the coronavirus.“

„I’m happy to join you today from home while we’re practicing social distancing,“ she added.

Gaynor ended her set with the world-changing mega-hit „I Will Survive,“ a fitting song to play as the world struggles with the coronavirus pandemic.

„Let’s not let this coronavirus interrupt our lives any more than we can help,“ she said. „Please help, do anything you can, tell your friends, family, loved ones to give to help with the coronavirus pandemic.“

The disco queen ended her set with a call to action and painted a picture of a world that has survived the pandemic.

„I hope to see you very soon, walking up and down the streets, in the clubs, and especially in church,“ she said.

The „Together At Home“ campaign was launched on March 16 by Global Citizen and the WHO. Artists, actors, and influencers have joined the campaign to bring people comfort, encourage them to practice social distancing, and show support for the WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Globally, more than 900,000 people have been infected by the coronavirus and 45,693 people have died from it, according to the WHO. The WHO is working to minimize the impact of the coronavirus by supporting health care workers, advising governments, and researching treatments and vaccines.

The best way everyday people can help curb the pandemic is by practicing social distancingflatten the curve of coronavirus. When people stay home, the less likely they are to become infected, and the sooner its spread will peter out.

The I Will Survive singer also said she suffered for so long she was forced to record her iconic anthem – which topped the charts in 24 countries back in 1978 – wearing a brace to keep her spine straight. Now, after fearing she would be partially paralysed for the rest of her life, she is launching a comeback next month with a national US concert tour at the age of 71. She has released a new gospel album called Testimony, claiming: „It’s like I have a new life. I feel blessed beyond measure. At one time, I couldn’t even get out of a chair without help. For the last 20 years, I could only walk bent over.“

„I Will Survive“ half Gaynor, nach Unfall zu genesen

„We Will Survive“ erschien vor fünf Jahren.

Gaynor durchlebte schwere Krisen in ihrem Leben
