TV Chef Guy Fieri Officiates at 101 Gay Weddings in Florida

The host of Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Guy Fieri officiated at a mass wedding ceremony in Miami, Florida on Saturday for 101 same-sex couples.

Celebrity chef and Florida native Art Smith, who has cooked for Oprah Winfrey and former governor Bob Graham, organized the giant wedding on Miami Beach, writes the Associated Press. He summoned some of the country’s top chefs, who were in town for the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, to help out.

Smith started planning the event in January, when he heard Florida had lifted a ban on same-sex marriage. He went to Twitter using the hashtag #101gayweddings and invited the first 101 couples to take part in the free wedding.

Smith explains the ‘101 Gay Weddings’ event was inspired by the movie 101 Dalmatians and is a dig at Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has fought against lifting the ban on same-sex marriage.

“We have our own Cruella De Vil, Pam Bondi. She was determined that she was going to prevent equality from coming to Florida,” he said.

After the couples walked down the aisle they were treated to a delectable wedding feast and a seven-tier cake made by Ace of Cakes star Duff Goldman.

The term eunuch, in history and scripture, frequently referred to gay men.  The term eunuch, in history, also referred to what we now call lesbians, recognized as such by ancient Jewish rabbis. Eunuchs-gay men, in history and scripture, are often anatomically whole, not physically castrated. Eunuchs in history and scripture are frequently, gay men who feel no sexual attraction toward women. Some eunuchs are gay. Eunuchs are gay men, in history and scripture, who are specifically excluded, by Jesus, from the Adam and Eve marriage paradigm. Eunuchs are gay men, who sometimes married women, in order “to pass,” to fit in culturally. Eunuchs-gay men, historically, were recognized by Rabbis of ancient Judaism, by ancient Roman law and by ancient Christian preachers, as physically intact men, who were born with no sexual attraction toward women, what one ancient preacher, Gregory of Nazianzus, referred to as natural chastity. Eunuchs are gay men in scripture, and were usually outstanding, honorable, brave, Godly men, who occupied a place of great responsibility and spiritual blessing. Do you remember the first Ethiopian eunuch in the Bible in Jeremiah 38:7-13; 39:15-18? He was God’s great eunuch hero! Eunuchs are gay men in early church history, who were welcomed into the Eastern church, as pastors, presbyters, deacons and bishops. Some eunuchs are gay.

The American Gay Rights Movement

In 1779, Thomas Jefferson proposed a law that would mandate castration for gay men and mutilation of nose cartilage for gay women. But that’s not the scary part. Here’s the scary part: Jefferson was considered a liberal. At the time, the most common penalty on the books was death.224 years later, the U.S. Supreme Court finally put an end to laws criminalizing same-sex intercourse in Lawrence v. Texas. Lawmakers at both the state and federal level continue to target lesbians and gay men with draconian legislation and hateful rhetoric. The gay rights movement is still working to change this.

Gay couples in the Bible raises questions and ignites some interesting discussions.

Gay couples in the Bible? When gay people read the Bible, we see gay couples that heterosexuals miss.

Here are four of the most famous gay couples in the Bible, at least, many people believe they were gay or bisexual. And for your edification, we include another gay guy – the first individual in the New Testament recorded as getting saved by grace through faith – the Ethiopian eunuch.

In my opinion there is not enough factual information about Naomi and Ruth or Daniel and Ashpenaz, to thoughtfully conclude that they were gay couples. I list them here because some people believe they were gay. The Link for Ruth and Naomi does present some interesting material which thinking Christians should consider.

Non-gay Christians dispute that any of these Bible celebrities were gay. However, it seems unlikely that in a book like the Bible, which covers four thousand years of human history, there would be absolutely no gay people. Even the most vocal anti-gay Christians cannot prove that assertion. In any case, let’s look at what some view as the most famous gay couple in scripture and see if the Bible gives additional insight.

Gay Couples In The Bible – David’s Intense Sorrow At Jonathan’s Death Indicates They Were More Than Platonic Friends

It is impossible for every love story to have a happy ending.

Many non-gay Christians insist there are no gay couples in the Bible. They read the story of David and Jonathan and conclude they were just platonic friends. Given the fervent pathos with which the Bible describes their relationship and the fact that this is the longest and best-described human love story in the Bible, the non-gay Christian conclusion seems strangely lacking in spiritual discernment.

It is possible they had numerous meetings between their last recorded meeting and Jonathan’s untimely death in battle against the Philistines, 1 Samuel 31:2. Yet scripture records no further meetings. Jonathan disappears from the narrative until his death in battle.

Did the Philistines behead Saul as payback because David beheaded Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:51-54? David’s grief over the death of Saul and Jonathan is voiced in lamentation as David writes and sings his first Psalm recorded in scripture, 2 Samuel 1:19-27.

Is It Really Possible There Are Gay Couples In The Bible? Here Is David’s Emotional Public Be The Judge

“Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions. Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.

God Knew That Homosexuality Would Be Controversial

God has a wise purpose for everything He allows. Knowing the controversy homosexuality would cause in the modern church, God inspired Samuel to record David’s unambiguous statement about his loving partnership with Jonathan.

after David killed Goliath, by Gottfried Bernhard Goz, 1708-1774. Do David’s unambiguous words about Jonathan support or deny the view that there are no gay couples in the Bible?

David’s words are so startlingly clear that many non-gay Christians say to themselves,

„Gay couples in the Bible? He couldn’t possibly mean that, could he?“

„Well, since David said it, he must have meant it. And since God quoted David in scripture it is definitely true!“

Gay couples in the Bible?

David’s public mourning for Jonathan indicates that his soldiers and all Israel knew the intensity of their intimate relationship.

David and Jonathan’s loving intimate relationship was public from beginning to end. If someone was objectively looking for gay couples in the Bible, it seems like David and Jonathan would leap off the page.

Think about it. Jonathan could not have maintained a fifteen year, intimate relationship or visited David in his wilderness stronghold without willing cooperation from his and Saul’s soldiers, who covered for him, and from David’s soldiers, who insured Jonathan’s access to David.

Gay Couples In The Bible? David’s Startling Comparison Makes Sense If Jonathan And David Were Intimate Partners.

“my brother [‘ach] Jonathan [given by Jehovah]: very [meod] pleasant [na’em] hast thou been unto me: thy love [ahabah] to me was wonderful [pala’], passing the love [ahabah] of women [ishshah].” 2 Samuel 1:26.

We gain fascinating insight into David’s love for Jonathan from the words used in the Hebrew text.

Some gays believe Kronberg intended this painting to represent David and Jonathan, rather than David and Saul, as the title suggests. David’s public eulogy in front of his soldiers, pays loving tribute to Jonathan, the partner given to him by Jehovah, 1 Samuel 20:8.

In the context of David’s statement, that Jonathan’s love surpassed the love of women, the Hebrew word gay couples in the Bible!

That Hebrew word meaning „brother“ reminded David’s testosterone fueled army of the fifteen year partnership they facilitated between two men who planned to rule Israel together, 1 Samuel 23:17. Because there was nothing shameful or dishonorable about Jonathan and David’s intimate love, David feels free to memorialize their love in front of his army. When David remembers Jonathan, he is still entranced by their timeless love.

No Gay Couples In The Bible? Are You Absolutely Sure Of That?

If Jonathan and David were not a gay couple, why did David use the same word to describe Jonathan’s love as he used to describe the love of his wives?

The Hebrew word,David uses the same Hebrew word to describe Jonathan’s love as he used to describe the love of his wives.

Think about that! It is important because it goes to the whole point of the Jonathan and David relationship. David was an eyewitness, a participant. He was personally involved in this intimate romantic 15 year long sexual relationship.

The same word that describes Jonathan’s love for David also describes the love of David’s wives for David.

How could God and David and the human authors of scripture make it any more clear? David and Jonathan were committed romantic intimate long-term sexual partners.

David speaks of Jonathan’s in contrast to a man, translated woman 324 times in the KJV.

Gay Couples In The Bible? David is memorializing far more than nonsexual friendship when he sings of Jonathan’s incredible love for him.

Read 1 Samuel 20:17 again and remind yourself that God put that in the Bible for a reason. Are you gay or lesbian? Do you have a friend or family member who is gay or lesbian? Did it ever occur to you that God placed this story in the Bible to affirm His blessing on committed faithful non-cultic gay and lesbian relationships and on gay marriage? Pray about that for a while.

God loves His gay and lesbian children and He did NOT leave us without affirmation of our relationships. David, the greatest hero of the Old Testament and a wonderful type of Christ is presented in scripture as a bisexual and/or a same sex attracted man who intimately loved another man.

David sings his eulogy, accompanying himself on his harp, in front of his hard-charging, testosterone-laden, Philistine-fighting, army of mighty men.

David is comparing the romantic, emotional, sexual love he experienced with Jonathan, to the romantic, emotional, sexual love he experienced with his wives. And he makes that comparison in public, in front of his army of mighty men and the leaders  of Israel.

According to the Bible and King David, Jonathan won that contest hands down. Have you considered that David’s army does not desert him? No one trots out Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13, divorces them from their context of shrine prostitution and insists to the grieving King that gay relationships are wrong and his loving covenant partnership with Crown Prince Jonathan was sinfully wrong.

In the ancient near Eastern cultural context, men did not enjoy intimate nonsexual friendships with women to whom they were not related by consaguinity (blood relationship) or affinity (marriage relationship).

for him to the love of his wives, is a strong public statement of the intimate, romantic, emotional, sexual nature of David and Jonathan’s relationship.

And in case you missed it, please reread 1 Samuel 20:30. King Saul, an eye witness to their relationship, who knew David and Jonathan as well as anyone could know them, believed they were sexually intimate and blasts Jonathan with a crude Hebrew vulgarism in a furious argument with his son.

After reading the Jonathan and David story as God the Holy Spirit presents it in scripture, it is difficult for any honest Christian to conclude that there are no gay couples in the Bible.

Non-gay Christians, absolute Complementarians and most traditionalists utterly reject the possibility that David’s eulogy for Jonathan has any sexual implications. What do you think?

Storyline

101 Rent Boys is shot on location in various motel rooms situated on the length of the Santa Monica Boulevard, and features 101 different hustlers. Although the film features 101 different people, it focuses on the lives (and loves) of a few key men. They have been chosen to reflect the immense diversity of the boys of the Santa Monica Strip. An amazing thing happens when you cross a video camera with award-winning directors, $50 and a hustler. The pieces are slickly grouped to cover certain themes; such as their first john, gay for pay, homelessness, drugs or the reason that they began to work as a rent boy. It also explores the variety of insiders‘ opinion on subjects such as; how a rent boy should dress, speak, act, think, give head, receive head, increase cash flow, keep safe, walk, eat, smoke, and flirt.

User Reviews

101 RENT BOYS is an interesting documentary comprised of exactly 101 interviews with various male escort types found around Santa Monica Blvd.! The majority of them are street hustlers with rough lives to match their rough features. Obviously some were also „call-boys“ who looked well-groomed and a little less street-worn. The filmmakers chose the most sensational sound-bites and presents them to us in no certain order except around themes such as „gay“, „homeless“, and „drugs“. It’s not surprising to hear about the rampant drug abuse or weird sexual requests of some „johns“, but it is a surprise to hear these guys worry about things like family and their future. Great movie!

Some eunuchs are gayThe Greek word eunouchizo

literally means to castrate a man. In ancient times, castration was accomplished by crushing the testicles to make them inoperative or by cutting off the testicles. Sometimes, the penis was also removed in the castration process. Without testicles, a man is incapable of producing sperm and is therefore incapable of procreation.

Eunouchizo is used historically and in scripture to refer to castrated men and uncastrated men, one class of whom, Jesus described as born eunuchs, who had not been physically castrated by man. That is one important reason some Christians believe eunuchs are gay men and women.

is also sometimes used metaphysically, to describe one who voluntarily abstains from traditional marriage but is not physically castrated.

Some Eunuchs Were Gay Men

Is that a biased assertion by gay Christians attempting to alibi our sin or is there scholarly support for such a statement?

Interestingly enough, tenured Professor of Greek and New Testament Exegesis at Pittsburg Theological Seminary and prolific anti-gay evangelical Christian author, admits on his website, that “born eunuchs” in the ancient world were probably gay.

which incidentally puts to the lie the oft-repeated claim that the ancient world could not even conceive of persons that were congenitally influenced toward exclusive same-sex attractions.“ – Dr. Gagnon

Based on Jesus’ statement in Matthew 19:12, the first category of eunuchs Jesus mentioned includes gay men.

„For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.”

John McNeill, in p. 65, states concerning Matthew 19:12,

a physically castrated man or a genitally deformed man but never a physically intact gay man is only conjecture. It has no basis in fact.

Even Dr. Gagnon admits that „born eunuchs“ were probably homosexuals.

When an anti-gay evangelical with the scholarly credentials of Dr. Robert Gagnon, a man who steadfastly opposes all homosexual practice as sinful, admits that the Biblical category of „born eunuch“ probably included homosexuals, that is an important admission.

In the translated by David Stern, Matthew 19:12 tells us the first class of eunuchs (born eunuchs) do not marry

According to David Stern’s translation, Jesus says that some males are born into the world to marry a woman.

Now doesn’t that sound like a gay man, born without the desire to marry a woman?

According to Jesus, this is a perfectly natural situation, beause the individual is born that way. Being a born eunuch is not the result of personal choice (since they were born that way). And according to Jesus, being “born a eunuch” exempts eunuchs from the Adam and Eve marriage paradigm, Matthew 19:11-12.

If you have friends or loved ones who are gay, you ought to really study Matthew 19:3-12. By (1) exempting gays from the Adam and Eve marriage paradigm and (2) differentiating between eunuchs so born from their mother’s womb and eunuchs who voluntarily abstain from marriage, Jesus has left the door wide open for eunuchs/gays to marry each other, i.e., be married in a way not in accord with the Adam and Eve paradigm.

And remember, gay marriage is now legal in all fifty states in the USA and many countries around the world. The analogy to polygamy is helpful here. Although most Christians are against polygamy today, in the Old Testament, polygamy was culturally accepted and legal and many followers of God engaged in it with God’s blessing.

Today, gay marriage is culturally accepted and legal and many born again gay Christians are gay married, with God’s wonderful blessing upon their marriage.

Have you enough love, mercy and Christian grace in your heart to see how important that is for your gay friends and family?

Let us be clear. Not all eunuchs were gay men or lesbians.

Let us be clear. Not all eunuchs were gay men or lesbians.

What is clear to students of history is that some eunuchs were gay men or lesbians. Ancient cultures recognized them as such. We provide more information in our eBook:

1951: First National Gay Rights Organization is Founded

During the 1950s, it would have been dangerous and illegal to register any kind of pro-gay organization. The founders of the first major gay rights groups had to protect themselves by using code.

The small group of gay men who created the Mattachine Society in 1951 drew on the Italian tradition of street comedy in which the jester-truthteller characters, the mattacini, revealed the flaws of pompous characters representing societal norms.

And the small group of lesbian couples who created the Daughters of Bilitis found their inspiration in an obscure 1874 poem, „The Song of Bilitis,“ which invented the character of Bilitis as a companion for Sappho.

Both groups essentially served a social function; they didn’t, and couldn’t, do much activism.

1961: Illinois Sodomy Law is Repealed

Founded in 1923, the American Law Institute has long been one of the most influential legal organizations in the country. In the late 1950s, it issued an opinion that stunned many: That victimless crime laws, such as laws banning sexual intercourse between consenting adults, should be abolished. Illinois agreed in 1961. Connecticut followed suit in 1969. But most states ignored the recommendation, and continued to classify consensual gay sex as a felony on par with sexual assault–sometimes with prison sentences of up to 20 years.

1969: The Stonewall Riots

1969 is often regarded as the year that the gay rights movement took off, and for good reason. Before 1969, there was a real disconnect between political progress, which was most often made by straight allies, and lesbian and gay organizing, which was most often swept under the rug.

When the NYPD raided a gay bar in Greenwich Village and started arresting employees and drag performers, they got more than they bargained for–a crowd of some 2,000 lesbian, gay, and transgender supporters of the bar took on the police, forcing them into the club. Three days of riots ensued.

A year later, LGBT activists in several major cities, including New York, held a parade to commemorate the revolt. Pride parades have been held in June ever since.

1973: American Psychiatric Association Defends Homosexuality

The early days of psychiatry were both blessed and haunted by the legacy of Sigmund Freud, who created the field as we know it today but sometimes had an unhealthy obsession with normalcy. One of the pathologies Freud identified was that of the „invert“–one who is sexually attracted to members of his or her own gender. For most of the twentieth century, the tradition of psychiatry more or less followed suit.

But in 1973, members of the American Psychiatric Association began to realize that homophobia was the real social problem. They announced that they would be removing homosexuality from the next printing of the DSM-II, and spoke out in favor of anti-discrimination laws that would protect lesbian and gay Americans.

1980: Democratic National Convention Supports Gay Rights

During the 1970s, four issues galvanized the Religious Right: Abortion, birth control, homosexuality, and pornography. Or if you want to look at it another way, one issue galvanized the Religious Right: Sex.

Leaders of the Religious Right were squarely behind Ronald Reagan in the 1980 election. Democratic leaders had everything to gain and little to lose by supporting gay rights, so they inserted a new plank in the party platform: „All groups must be protected from discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, language, age, sex or sexual orientation.“ Three years later, Gary Hart became the first major-party presidential candidate to address an LGBT organization. Other candidates of both parties have followed suit.

1984: City of Berkeley Adopts First Same-Sex Domestic Partnerships Ordinance

A key component of equal rights is the recognition of households and relationships. This lack of recognition tends to affect same-sex couples most during the times in their lives when they already face the greatest levels of stress–in times of illness, where hospital visitation is often denied, and in times of bereavement, where inheritance between partners is often unrecognized.

In recognition of this, The Village Voice became the first business to offer domestic partnership benefits in 1982. In 1984, the City of Berkeley became the first U.S. government body to do so–offering lesbian and gay city and school district employees the same partnership benefits that heterosexual couples take for granted.

1993: Hawaii Supreme Court Issues Ruling in Support of Same-Sex Marriage

In Baehr v. Lewin (1993), three same-sex couples challenged the State of Hawaii’s heterosexual-only marriage won. The Hawaii Supreme Court declared that, barring a „compelling state interest,“ the State of Hawaii could not bar same-sex couples from marrying without violating its own equal protection statutes. The Hawaii state legislature soon amended the constitution to overrule the Court.

So began the national debate over same-sex marriage–and the pandering efforts of many state legislatures to ban it. Even President Clinton got in on the act, signing the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act in 1996 to prevent any future hypothetical same-sex married couples from receiving federal benefits.

1998: President Bill Clinton Signs Executive Order 13087

Although President Clinton is often best remembered in the LGBT activism community for his support of a ban on lesbians and gay men in the military and his decision to sign the Defense of Marriage Act, he also had a positive contribution to offer. In May 1998, while he was in the midst of the sex scandal that would consume his presidency, Clinton authored Executive Order 13087–banning the federal government from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation in employment.

2003: U.S. Supreme Court Strikes Down All Remaining Sodomy Laws

Despite the considerable progress that had been made on gay rights issues by 2003, gay sex was still illegal in 14 states. Such laws, though seldom enforced, served what George W. Bush called a „symbolic“ function–a reminder that the government does not approve of sex between two members of the same gender.

In Texas, officers responding to a nosy neighbor’s complaint interrupted two men having sex in their own apartment and promptly arrested them for sodomy. The Lawrence v. Texas case went all the way to the Supreme Court, which struck down Texas‘ sodomy law. For the first time in U.S. history, celibacy was no longer the implicit legal standard for lesbians and gay men–and homosexuality itself ceased to be an indictable offense.

Dankesbriefe an Piloten
